CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services has launched a new website featuring a variety of training opportunities available to Wyoming residents in renewable energy and energy efficient industries. The website address is: http://wyowdc.org/eeto/
The web site contains information on training opportunities in energy efficient construction, evaluating energy loss in buildings, energy efficient heating and air conditioning maintenance, home weatherization, and environmental health and safety. Wind and solar energy training is available to apprentice and journeyman electricians.
Some programs will pay all, or part of tuition and supplies. Jobseekers enrolled in the training programs typically are released from state job-search obligations while undergoing training.
Made available through the State Energy Sector Partnership (SESP) competitive grant process under the US Department of Labor (DOL), Wyoming was awarded nearly $4.5 million to train workers in renewable energy and energy efficient industries in 2010. The state is able to serve more than 2,000 participants under the grant. So far, nearly 1,000 individuals have been, or are receiving training.
The following partners provide training under the grant: Eastern Wyoming College, Laramie County Community College, Northern Wyoming Community College, Fremont County BOCES, Central Wyoming College, Casper College, McMurry Training Center and Wyoming Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee.
