Fontenelle Fire
The Fontenelle Fire, first reported on June 24 as covering about 200 acres, devoured almost 48,000 acres by July 3, with 584 fire personnel reporting to the incident command base camp at Big Piney High School. Freelance photographer Tyler Foster spent several days chronicling the wildfire’s incredible advances. Above, an immensely hot, noisy and smoky flare-up on July 1 sends everyone packing as the flames, just three-quarters of a mile away, turn to the west. Photo by Tyler Foster, Sublette Examiner.
