WYDOT offers new travel webcam displays by road

The National Weather Service in Riverton in conjunction with the Wyoming Department of Transportation has developed a new route-by-route webcam display online. The new website provides a quick look at all WYDOT webcams along a given interstate, US highway, or state highway across Wyoming.
NWS Riverton Lead Forecaster Arthur Meunier designed the new page with the Wyoming traveler in mind. Webcams along a selected travel route are provided as a thumbnail image for a quick view along the entire corridor. Each webcam can also be viewed individually for a closer look at the road and weather conditions.
Chris Jones, Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the Riverton office, said that initial feedback has been positive. "People like that town and place names are provided along with the route number. This makes selection much easier for the traveler, especially visitors from out of state," Jones said. "Many have mentioned how nice it is to have a quick glance at all webcams along their intended route," he added.
To view the new travel webcam display, go online to http://ow.ly/eJT2s. Meunier plans to make adjustments to the page as more WYDOT webcams are added. Feedback on the webcams display can be emailed to the NWS at cr.wxriw@noaa.gov.
