Nordic ski grooming report – Dec. 27, 2012
December 27, 2012
Report courtesy of Mike Looney, Groomer
Thursday, 10 AM report: All trails above freshly groomed for both classic and skating. A couple of inches of new snow in the last 24 hours. The road is snow-packed and plowed with a little bit of slush from Half Moon Lake turn-off to White Pine. The White Pine parking lot is snow packed and plowed.
There is still some wildlife around, including moose. Wildlife can be dangerous, so do not approach and do keep dogs under control at all times.
Thank you to those who have been picking up after your dogs. We want to keep the trails clean and an enjoyable experience for all skiers. A good way to handle this is to bring a plastic bag in your pocket and when your pet does his business, put your hand in the bag and use it like a glove to pick up the droppings and then throw the waste well off the trail. Turn the bag inside out and tie it closed and put it back in your pocket and discard the used bag appropriately when you get back home. Please do not leave bags of droppings on the side of the ski trails. They get covered by snow and often end up as litter or land mines for the grooming equipment. We appreciate pet owners cooperation in keeping the trails clean for all users.
