Nordic ski grooming report Dec. 14, 2012
December 14, 2012
Report courtesy of Mike Looney, Groomer:
Friday, Dec. 14: Everything groomed today. We need more snow no new snow in the last 24 hours. Not enough snow to put in a classic track on Kelly Park, Kelly Tie In or Old Road Trail, those are just groomed for skating. There is a base of about 8-10" total depth at Kelly Park. White Pine has about 16" of snow base. Temperature is warm, about 25 degrees (F) today. The road going in is plowed and good watch for deer.
Caution: There is water overflow from Surveyor Creek at the bottom of Kelly Tie in Trail at the creek crossing. Might want to bring a scraper with you to get ice off your skis from crossing the creek at this point. Not enough snow yet to cover this crossing. As always, be alert for wildlife on the ski trails (moose and deer).
Please keep dogs off Upper Surveyor Park for now, but they are welcome in Lower Surveyor. Never approach wildlife and keep your dogs under control at all times.
White Pine Ski Area is open now for their alpine ski season with services available at the lodge. A restroom is also available at the Nordic ski trailhead off the parking lot.
CCC Pond trails wont be groomed until we get more snow.
