Recently, the Sublette County Sheriff’s office conducted another round of alcohol and tobacco compliance checks on local businesses. The purpose of this effort was to determine the degree to which licensed establishments complied with laws relating to the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco to underage persons. Twenty-three Sublette County businesses were inspected and each passed, yielding a compliance rate of 100% in both checks.
Establishments are not notified of compliance checks, and a minor was used to complete these checks. No attempts are made to misrepresent the minor’s age or to distract business employees. If requested, the minor provided their actual photo driver’s license which clearly indicateshis/her age. The minor worked under the supervision of police officers and was under continuous observation.
The Sublette County Prevention Coalition would like to thank the local businesses for their diligent efforts to protect our youth from the dangers of alcohol and tobacco by not selling to minors. We would like to let all the businesses know we admire your efforts!
