Agencies hold All Fire Days to prepare for wildfire season

Firefighters and Emergency Management responders from agencies in Sublette County gathered at the Sylvan Bay Summer Home subdivision near Fremont Lake on the Bridger-Teton National Forest on Saturday June 15, to train for the upcoming fire season.
"The primary goal for the day is to get people from the different agencies in one place working together. It’s a great opportunity to shake off the cobwebs from winter and start thinking about fire," says Mark Randall, Assistant Fire Manager Officer with the Bridger-Teton National Forest East Zone. Some of the topics covered for the day included; radio communications, fire weather, seasonal fire outlook, dry hydrant overview and use, safety, structure evaluation and protection, and evacuations. "Working with and getting to know our interagency partners during this annual ‘All Fire Day’ exercise really pays off when we get the real thing and need to be able to work hand in hand on a wildfire or other type of all-risk incident."
Homeowners are reminded that spring is a good time to work around their property removing potential fuel to make their home more likely to survive in the event of a wildfire. Information on how create defensible space around the home can be found at www.firewise.org.
Agencies that participated in All Fire Day were Bridger-Teton National Forest, Sublette County Fire, Sublette County EMS, Tip Top Search and Rescue, Bureau of Land Management, Sublette County Sheriff’s Office, Sublette County Emergency Management.
