Big Piney/Marbleton annual Independence Day celebration

Big Piney and Marbleton will host the 79th annual Chuckwagon Days celebration Wednesday & Thursday, July 3rd & 4th.
Events begin at 6:00PM on Wednesday, July 3rd with the annual Lil’ Buckaroo Rodeo in the Sublette County Fairgrounds Ag Arena. This event is sponsored by Encana Natural Gas. This is a kids’ rodeo open to all kids age 12 and under. Admission is free. All contestants will receive a t-shirt. 1st Place event winners receive gift certificates. Events include Stickhorse Barrel Racing, Goat Tail Tying, Calf Roping, Mutton Busting, Bareback Riding, and Calf Riding. For more information call 307-276-5424.
Thursday’s 4th of July events get started with the 11th annual early morning "Chuckwagon Chug" - 5 & 10K walk/run. The event is sponsored by the Big Piney Booster Club. Proceeds go to fund Booster Club activities. Registration is 7AM on the east side of the Big Piney High School. The race Start time is 8:00AM on the east side of the Big Piney High School. Kids 1K (ages 8 and under) before the race! Advance registration is $20, race day registration is $25 for 5K and 10K. There will also be an Alumni Memory loop for $5. Racers get a t-shirt. From 7am-9am, everyone is invited to the 5th Annual Community Pancake Breakfast at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Big Piney. The church is located at 340 Smith Ave. in Big Piney (just north of Tegeler and Associates. They will offer pancakes, sausage, bacon, coffee and juice. At-will donations are greatly appreciated and go to support local charities.
The Chuckwagon Days Parade begins at 10am along Budd Avenue in Big Piney. Parade line-up is at 9AM. This year residents will get to enjoy the parade viewing along the newly widened sidewalks and redone street in downtown Big Piney.
After the Parade, everyone is invited to the Sublette County Fairgrounds for the annual Community BBQ. This chow-down includes beef, potato salad, beans, drink and a dessert. Donations are appreciated.
The Chuckwagon Days Rodeo begins at 1:00pm at the Fairgrounds Rodeo Arena (slack is at 7AM). Admission is $5/person. This is an Open Rodeo. Events include rough stock, bull riding, saddle bronc, bareback, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, ranch bronc riding, team doctoring, #9 & #13 Team Roping, open barrels, novice barrels, Jr. barrels, peewee barrels, mutton busting, calf scramble both days. Concessions will be available.
From 6pm to Midnight there will be the annual 4th of July Street Dance at 106 S Fish Street in Big Piney (Free).
Capping the Independence Day events will be the annual 4th of July fireworks display, shot from the Marbleton hill under the supervision of the Big Piney/Marbleton Volunteer Fire Department.
