PAC competition pool reopens
by Pinedale Aquatic Center
June 12, 2013
The competition pool at PAC will reopen on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 5:00 a.m. after three weeks of being closed for planned repairs. The original estimate for the closure was as long as thirty days, as this was the first time the competition pool had been drained since its original construction. The draining of the pool took 98 hours, while the time to refill was 44.5 hours.
As a result of the dedication and hard work of both the PAC Maintenance and Aquatic Department staff, as well as the efforts of the associated contractors, the repairs to the competition pool were successfully completed without any complications. As a result of these efforts and a little bit of luck, PAC is proudly able to reopen the competition pool for use nearly two weeks ahead of schedule.
During this preventative maintenance shutdown, technicians from Colorado Timing Systems came on-site to conduct a detailed inspection of the existing swim meet timing system. The purpose of this on-site visit was to make any necessary repairs and to provide for upgrades to the existing system. The long-range goal of this system upgrade is to help place the Pinedale Aquatic Center as a viable candidate to host future State High School Swim Meets. In addition, technicians from CEM Corp. (Chemical Electrical Mechanical Corporation) out of Salt Lake City arrived during the week of June 3rd to conduct a thorough pool inspection and replace all of the black swim turn markers. The final inspection report was released by CEM and by all measurable accounts, the tank was found to be in excellent condition.
The competition pool will be open during the summer as follows; Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.; Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.; and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. until 5:45 p.m.
