Firewood cutting areas open on Big Piney Ranger District

The Big Piney Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest will be opening firewood cutting areas to the public. The following areas are open until August 29, 2013 for cutting of standing and down trees and any slash piles within 300-feet of any open road. The South Beaver firewood cutting area along Forest Road #10376, Irene Creek firewood cutting area along Forest Road #10058, and the South Cottonwood firewood cutting area along Forest Roads #10050 and #10340. A valid firewood permit is required. These permits may be obtained at the Big Piney District Office between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Mechanical permits, which authorize the use of some machinery or automated assistance in removing fuel wood, will be available. Firewood cutters are reminded that all firewood removed from the National Forest requires a valid Forest Service firewood permit and each load is required to be properly tagged before the wood is removed from the Forest.
