Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) reports that a Utah woman has died due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle-truck collision in Sublette County on Tuesday, August 6th. Amy Hansen, 38, from Vernal, Utah, was a passenger on the motorcycle. She passed away two days later at Eastern Idaho Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho from her injuries.

According to WHP, the collision happened around 2:30PM on Tuesday, August 6th approximately 39 miles north of Pinedale on US 191 in Sublette County.

Ms. Hansen was the passenger on a 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Ronald Hansen, 47, also of Vernal, Utah.

The second vehicle involved was a 2010 Ford F250 pickup driven by 36-year old Kellie Sellers of Pinedale. Kelsey Thomas, 18, of Cora, Wyoming was a passenger in the pickup truck. Neither Sellers or Thomas was injured in the collision and both were wearing their seatbelts.

According to the WHP release, the Sellers vehicle was the lead vehicle of two pickups that were northbound in a curve in the roadway. The two pickups had just finished spraying weeds on the shoulder of the highway. The second pickup was displaying a large sign which read "PASS WITH CARE" attached to the rear. The two pickups were in the process of stopping to collect their warning signs. The Sellers pickup was in the process of making a left turn into a private drive and the second pickup was in the process of pulling onto the right shoulder when Hansen, who was also northbound, attempted to pass both pickups. The impact occurred in the southbound lane as Hansen's motorcycle collided into the front quarter panel of the Sellers vehicle. Upon impact, both Hansen's were ejected from the motorcycle.

Amy Hansen was transported from the scene via helicopter to Eastern Idaho Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where she died two days after the crash. Ronald Hansen was transported via ground ambulance to St. John's Hospital in Jackson. Hansen has been cited for unsafe passing.
