February 27, 2014
On Friday, February 21st at approximately 11:20 a.m. the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a medical emergency in the Upper Green. The reporting party stated that a snow machine had struck a tree near the Red Cliff Bible Camp and two subjects were seriously injured. Deputies and EMS immediately went en route. Due to the remoteness of the crash site the patients were being transported to the parking lot at the Upper Green by snowmobile and the camp’s snowcat. Law enforcement and EMS had staged in the parking lot awaiting the patients. Upon arrival one subject, 42-year old Colan Deatherage of Pocatello, Idaho, was pronounced deceased due to injuries sustained while driving the snow machine. The other patient was transported to the Pinedale medical clinic and released. Law enforcement, with the help of Tip Top Search and Rescue, travelled by snow machine to the scene to investigate. No foul play is suspected. The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the family of Mr. Deatherage. Stephen Smith, Public Information Officer Authority: Dave Lankford, Sheriff
