A Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) plow truck caught fire around 4:30 p.m. Monday (Feb. 10th) - fortunately only about 150 feet from Bondurant Fire Station on Highway 191.
That plow and another had been working on the highway through much of the day removing Bondurant's three-foot-plus weekend snowfall from the sides of the road. Twin columns of thick, black, acrid smoke rose from the burning truck. When the driver spotted the flames, he jumped out and grabbed his fire extinguisher, according to the second WYDOT driver on duty.
The cab was engulfed in flames at 4:30 p.m., with one Bondurant fire truck pulling from the station and moving across the road. A crew arrived to assist. About five minutes later, traffic was stopped in both directions until the fire was extinguished around 5:30 p.m.
The Daniel Fire Department also responded, as did Sublette EMS, Wyoming Highway Patrol and the Sublette County Sheriff's Office. No one was injured in the incident.
