The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Thursday afternoon to Saturday morning for the Upper Green Basin and the along the Green River near Pinedale, Big Piney to LaBarge. Very warm temperatures will continue and cause excessive snowmelt runoff causing area streams and rivers to flow at very high levels through Saturday morning.

Flooding is possible along smaller creeks and streams feeding into upper portions of the Green River Thursday afternoon through Saturday morning. Horse Creek and Beaver Creek near Daniel will be flowing at very high levels through saturday morning. Flooding is possible along the Green River from the confluence of the New Fork River to LaBarge through Saturday morning.

The Green River near LaBarge is expected to rise to flood stage by early Saturday afternoon.

Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Do not attempt to cross streams and creeks during the late afternoon and early evening. Creeks and streams will be at their highest at those times. Pay attention to the weather and to creek and stream levels. Do not get close to flooded creeks and streams. Move to higher ground.

Anyone living along areas susceptible to potential flooding can get free sandbags by contacting Sublette County Emergency Management through the Sheriff’s Office.
