We are blessed to have a wonderfully large snow pack in the Wind River Mountains this spring. We had significant amounts of moisture collect in the mountains last fall which froze in place and served as a base for the big snow events in February and early March. The temperatures have remained relatively cool this spring so the high snow is just starting to melt, but coming slowly at the present time. The increase in surface temperatures as we approach June will start the streams rolling and the high mountain drainages will begin to spill some water downhill. We will see high water through June and into early July. The upper reaches of most streams and rivers should be fishable toward the end of June and early July. The best news of all is that we will have excellent water conditions on most of our streams well into late fall. Most of the low-lying lakes around Pinedale are open and present excellent stillwater fishing opportunities. If the current weather patterns persist the streams should be in prime shape for fishing mid-July through late September.
