Ceremonial signing of nine long-term, sage-grouse protection plans

U.S. Secretary of the Interior, Sally Jewell will travel to Wyoming in mid-October to see efforts to conserve sagebrush habitat for wildlife benefit. On Wednesday, October 15, Secretary Jewell will join Wyoming Governor Matt Mead and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Dan Ashe to tour of a ranch near Pinedale, Wyoming which is involved in local sagebrush habitat conservation efforts.
Later in the day, Secretary Jewell will join Wyoming Governor Matt Mead; U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Dan Ashe; Bureau of Land Management Wyoming State Director Don Simpson; local landowner Brad Bousman with Bousman Livestock, Inc. and private landowners and local stakeholders for a ceremonial signing of nine long-term, sage-grouse protection plans. This ceremony will highlight the leadership of the ranching community and the state of Wyoming in conservation efforts that benefit the land, wildlife and future generations of ranchers. Partnerships between the federal government, states, private landowners and other stakeholders are important in creating and implementing a landscape-level conservation strategy for sage grouse, which will be considered for possible protection under the Endangered Species Act by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 2015. The signing ceremony will be at Trappers Point at 11:00AM, 1-5 E Green River Road.
