On Monday, December 29th around noon, Big Piney/Marbleton Volunteer Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire north of Hwy 351 on the East Green River Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found a modular home fully engulfed in flames. Additional help from Boulder, Daniel and Pinedale volunteer fire departments also responded. The people who were inside the home were all evacuated safely and there were no injuries, however the home was a total loss. All firefighters were able to do was save nearby structures. According to Sublette County Fire Information Officer Joe Sampson, the fire appears to have been accidental, starting in the basement in the vicinity of a wood stove. The investigation into the cause continues. Firefighters declared the fire out around 7:00PM Monday evening. Fire personnel returned on Tuesday to double check for any hot spots.
The names of the inhabitants were not released, but Sampson said they had family in the nearby area they would be staying with. The occupants lost everything that was in the house to the fire.
