Diabetes prevention and management seminars offered
‘Lunch and Learn’ seminars in April, May, and June

A series of free ‘lunch and learn’ seminars will be offered in April, May and June on understanding, managing and preventing diabetes.
Anyone working alongside people with diabetes or those interested in preventing diabetes is invited to attend this series. Participants may include, but not limited to, healthcare workers, law enforcement, school personnel, exercise professionals, and mental health counselors. All sessions will be held in the Public Health meeting room in Pinedale from noon to 1:30PM.
Friday, April 17, 2015: Understanding Diabetes Diabetes basics, current statistics in the nation and in Wyoming, the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes, the importance of blood pressure control, etc. will be reviewed.
Friday, May 22, 2015: Nutrition and Lifestyle Engaging in lifestyle habits, such as eating well, engaging in physical activity, controlling blood pressure, and managing stress promotes living well with diabetes. In addition to reviewing current lifestyle guidelines, motivational interviewing techniques will be introduced.
Friday, June 19, 2015: Screening, Prevention Tips, and Medication Review Screening, prevention tips, and medications commonly prescribed to treat diabetes and hypertension will be reviewed. The medication review is meant to provide a basic understanding of the types of medications available.
