Big Piney man killed in motorcycle accident
Joe Sanders killed April 18th in crash on Paradise Road
by Sublette County Sheriff’s Office
April 20, 2015
At approximately 6:30pm on Saturday, April 18, 2015, the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motorcyclist who had been in a crash on Paradise Road, just past the New Fork Bridge. SCSO Deputies and members of EMS responded immediately and confirmed a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcyclist.
Life-saving efforts began on the driver, identified as 50-year-old Joe L. Sanders of Big Piney, WY, who sustained what appeared to be severe head injuries. Guardian Flight helicopter responded to transport, but Sanders succumbed to his injuries before he could be transported to a hospital.
The initial report indicates that Sanders’ motorcycle appeared to have negotiated a left-hand curve before going off the roadway. Though Sanders was able to bring the vehicle back onto the road, it appears he may have overcorrected, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet. The crash is being investigated by Wyoming Highway Patrol.
The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the family of Mr. Sanders.
