Man arrested after high-speed chase near Pinedale

On Monday, June 15, 2015, at approximately 5:20pm, the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a stolen silver Nissan Pathfinder out of Jackson. Deputy Dan Ruby located the vehicle driving southbound at mile marker 124 on Highway 191 and attempted to stop the suspect. The driver fled the traffic stop, leading deputies on a chase towards the town of Pinedale, with speeds between 85-90 mph. As the suspect neared town, deputies backed off from the pursuit for safety concerns. The vehicle was then spotted driving into the Favazzo subdivision, where the suspect continued driving at a high rate of speed, eventually swerving at a deputy’s patrol car before losing control and rolling the SUV. Unharmed, the suspect, identified as Anthony Ray Lebya, 26, was taken into custody and charged with a number of offenses, including; reckless driving, eluding, speeding, possession of stolen property, and attempted aggravated assault. Both aggravated assault and possession of stolen property are felonies, each punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Lebya, originally from Colorado, will be facing additional charges from Jackson, as well as a number of active warrants from Colorado.
