BLM Pinedale invites volunteers to National Public Lands Day event Sept. 5th
A day of clean-up work at the CCC Ponds near Fremont Lake

The Bureau of Land Management, Pinedale Field Office invites families, individuals, clubs and organizations to help spruce up the CCC Ponds Recreation Area on September 5 as part of the National Public Lands Day (NPLD) annual celebration. Bring the family for some enjoyable work in the great outdoors. Volunteers eight years old and up are welcome and activities will be provided for younger children. To join the effort, meet at 8:30 a.m. at the CCC Ponds parking lot.
This year, local partners, the USFS and BLM invite volunteers to pitch in to improve the CCC Ponds for everyone. Volunteers are needed for a variety of chores, most notable, the clearing of brush along trails. Other tasks include repairing bluebird homes, improving access to footbridges, stabilizing shoreline fishing access, and installing signs. With enough help, volunteers will remove trees felled by the CCC Ponds busy beavers.
The NPLD event is expected to last until 3 PM. Please stay as long as you can. Lunch will be provided. Proper work attire such as gloves, hat, long pants, sturdy shoes and safety glasses should be worn. Gloves and safety glasses will be available. Sunscreen and insect repellant are highly recommended. Water and snacks will be available as well as NPLD t-shirts, "Fee Free" passes, and other giveaway items.
To get to the CCC Ponds from Pinedale take Hwy 191 south, turn north on Skyline Drive, next to Ridley’s Grocery store, continue 3.2 miles, then turn west on Fremont Lake Road, towards Lakeside Lodge. Continue 1 mile on Fremont Lake Road. A sign on the right side of the road will direct you to the CCC ponds parking area.
The CCC Ponds originally developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930’s are now cherished by residents of Sublette County and visitors for fishing, walking, biking, skiing and wildlife watching.
