Each year in August the spectacular Perseid meteor shower returns to the night skies. This year the viewing is through about August 11th through 14th with the best chance to see the most shooting stars right before dawn, especially on August 13th this year. In the Northern Hemisphere, viewers could see as many as 50 shooting stars an hour.
