Town of Pinedale update
Winter approaching, water lines, roads, Pinedale Winter Carnival plans
by Town of Pinedale
September 21, 2015

Well Pinedale, I think we can all agree that fall is upon us and winter is not far behind. We here at the Town want to remind you of a few important winter preparations that you may want to consider.

If at all possible, wrap or insulate outdoor water supply lines, and make sure to disconnect exterior hoses from the hose bib at night. If you have pipes in attics or crawl spaces, make sure those spaces are sealed up and protected from the cold as much as possible.

When it gets colder, to prevent frozen pipes, remember to leave a "bleeder" line with water running slowly in a sink somewhere.

If your meter will not be used because you are out of town, or are no longer irrigating, it should be removed. Unprotected meters can and do freeze. Starting this year, the Town will no longer remove your water meter for you. If you think you would benefit from being safe and removing the unutilized meter, we recommend calling a professional plumber or contractor to safely remove it and drain it. Then, just reinstall your safely stored meter when you return.

Besides water issues, winter can bring a lot more hazards with it. Consider having your chimneys expertly cleaned and inspected. Make sure you have good, all-weather tires on your vehicles, and check wiper blades to be sure they are in good working order. Also, consider having emergency supplies both in your vehicle and at home.

Business owners, as tiresome as this is, please help keep parking lots and sidewalks free of snow and ice to allow for safe passage around town.

Now that we have talked about the inconvenience of winter, let’s enjoy it! Main Street Pinedale is spearheading an effort with its partners at Pinedale Travel and Tourism and the Sublette County Chamber of Commerce to bring back a Winter Carnival. A tentative date of February 20th has been set. But, we need your help! Individuals and groups are sought to help plan and put on this much loved winter weekend festival. Please mark your calendars and attend the first planning session Wednesday, September 23, at 6:00 PM. The organizational meeting will be held at the Lovatt Room of the Sublette County Library. We hope to see you there.

The Town of Pinedale wants to thank you again for your patience and careful driving while we finish this year’s quadrant of chip sealing on our roads, and the sidewalk project down Pine Street. The contractor will be sweeping up the excess rock over the next few days. Please do not park on the newly resurfaced roads until the sweeping is complete.

As always, construction updates may be found at www.townofpinedale.us.
