On New Years Day, Friday, January 1st, tune in to watch the Wyoming All-State Marching Band march in the 2016 Rose Bowl Parade. There will be some Pinedale High School students in the band. The parade starts at 8:00AM Mountain Time and the band will be on television at around 9:15AM. The parade will air on HGTV without interruption or stream it live on www.ktla.com.
Marching Bands The first marching band to appear in the Rose Parade was the Monrovia Town Band in 1891, with fewer than 20 members. Today, it's not uncommon to see marching bands with 300 or more members in the parade. Well over 50 musical groups compete for as few as 12 openings every year.
Bands are selected approximately 15 months in advance to give the groups time to raise the money needed for the trip to Pasadena, California. There were 18 marching bands selected to participate in the 127th Rose Parade. They hail from across the United States as well as from Guatemala, Japan and Mexico. The theme for the 2016 parade was "Find Your Adventure."
