The advisory commission responsible for allocating Pinedale’s lodging tax funds awarded the first round of Fiscal Year 2016’s tourism promotion funding last month. The Pinedale Travel and Tourism Commission's purpose is to advise and recommend to the Pinedale Town Council how excise taxes on lodging should be allocated for promoting and marketing Pinedale. These funds are dedicated to supporting tourism in the greater Pinedale region which in turn generates further revenue for multiple businesses in the area through a multiplier effect (fuel, food, shopping, etc.).

The Commission committed $54,000 in this year’s fiscal budget to support local, entrepreneurial volunteer organizations’ efforts to grow regional tourism and become a part of Visit Pinedale’s website, social media, and marketing programs. Of the 11 grant applications, 5 groups were funded for the Fall round.

"The majority of the organizations who received funding had great community events on the table that would also increase area visitation and needed some extra help to get them started", said Chairman, Matt Murdock. "As more visitors come to Sublette County, our funding support for community events and programs will continue to increase."

Pinedale Glaciers, Pinedale Junior Club Volleyball, PFAC Winter Packages, Pinedale Fine Arts Council’s 2016 Summer Concert Series, and Pinedale Snow Explorers for this winter’s XMR Vintage Oval Race and Sno X received funding for their programs to attract and welcome visitors.

The next PTTC Grant application deadline is February 28, 2016. Applications can be picked up at Town Hall, 210 W Pine Street, or via email to maureenrudnick@townofpinedale.us.
