Senate approves far-reaching Obamacare repeal
To help people who didn’t have insurance, the President hurt many people who already had insurance. Bill still needs President’s signature to become law

Washington, D.C. – The United States Senate today (Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015) passed the most comprehensive and far-reaching repeal of Obamacare possible. The House of Representatives is expected to take up and pass the Senate approved version shortly, which would send repeal legislation to the President for the first time in his tenure.
"With approval of this budget reconciliation bill, the Senate today has passed the most comprehensive and far-reaching repeal of Obamacare possible," said Chairman Enzi. "Most Americans are still opposed to this unprecedented expansion of government intrusion into health care because it represents nothing more than broken promises, higher costs and fewer choices."
The budget reconciliation bill repeals more than $1.2 trillion in Obamacare tax hikes that hard working families would be forced to pay over the next 10 years, it reduces spending by nearly $1.5 trillion and provides almost $400 billion in on-budget deficit reduction over that same period, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). Obamacare is expected to cost American households more than $116 billion a year in new taxes.
"We need health care reform, but it must be done the right way," Chairman Enzi said. "Our nation has made great strides in improving the quality of life for all Americans, but these changes were always forged in the spirit of bipartisan compromise and cooperation. The bill the Senate has approved today is the first step in building a bridge from Obamacare’s broken promises to better access to high-quality health care for each and every American."

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today (Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015) U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) released the following statement after the Senate voted to repeal the president’s health care law.
"As a doctor who’s taken care of people in Wyoming for decades, I’m always looking to make health care more affordable and accessible for American families. After almost six years of increased premiums and decreased access to care, it’s clear that Obamacare is not the answer.
"The president famously promised that if you liked your plan, you could keep your plan. Families in Wyoming who have lost their insurance because of this law know firsthand this is just another broken promise. To help people who don't have insurance, the president should not have had to hurt so many people who already had insurance.
"Congress has acted, and a repeal bill is now headed to the president’s desk. He has an important decision to make. He can stand by and do nothing, or he can work with Congress to replace this unworkable law with the kind of health care reforms that the American people actually need and want."
