Avalanche training
January 27, 2016
Tip Top Search and Rescue (TTSR) spent a weekend in mid-January with Exum Mountain Guides and American Avalanche Institute completing a Level 1 Avalanche course, specialized for local sledders and terrain. Ten members of the TTSR Avalanche Response Team spent three days of classroom and field training to better their knowledge of the interactions of weather, snowpack and terrain that affect the avalanche hazards. They spent time in the backcountry digging snow pits, identifying snow layers, and practiced route finding and avalanche rescue. "Tip Top would like to thank Exum, in particular Nat and Bill, for their time and expertise. We look forward to working with them in the future," said Kenna Tanner, Tip Top Search and Rescue Coordinator.
