School Lunch Tasting Test Feb. 11
by Sublette County School District #1
January 21, 2016
ATTENTION PARENTS – PUBLIC INPUT MEETING: On February 11, 2016, SCSD#1 will hold a Tasting Test! That’s right a tasting test of four school lunches including Popcorn Chicken Salad, Pizza, Nachos, and Chicken Sandwich, first made as the Federal Regulations require and then the same four lunches made how we would do it if we left the Federal School Lunch Program.
The district would like to know your thoughts and opinions. The meeting will be held in the Wrangler Cafeteria and will begin at 5:30 PM with a presentation about the details that impact the decision to withdraw from the Federal program like cost projections, revenues, estimates, nutrition, and comparisons. At that point, you will have the opportunity to sample the four selected lunches to see how you feel about the quality and taste, etc.
At about 6:15PM, you will be invited to give input to the Board of Trustees. Your thoughts are very important to making a decision about the future of our School Lunch Program. The Board and administrators have been studying this program for over a year now. They have been gathering data and have even visited other school districts that left the Federal program like Big Horn in Sheridan #1 and Kemmerer in Lincoln #1. They are trying to decide if the rise in costs to provide school lunches outside of the Federal program is worth it to be able to provide tastier and more satisfying lunches for your children.
We invite you to come and taste and then share your thoughts and worries with us. Again, this is February 11th beginning at 5:30 and ending around 7:00 PM. We would love to see you there. (Samples will be available while they last.) See the Food Services page of the district website at sub1.org for more information about the School Lunch Program.
