Regulating climate-damaging food to protect the global environment April 27, 2016 The British independent.co.uk news website posted a story on April 27, 2016 saying that Denmark is considering proposals to introduce a tax on red meat after a government think tank came to the conclusion that "climate change is an ethical problem." According to the story, cattle account for some 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. The tax might be extended to all red meat in the future in order for the country to live up to its Paris Agreement commitments regarding climate change. The Danish Council of Ethics says Danes are ethically obligated to change their eating habits and cut out beef from their diets, and the tax should apply to all foods at varying levels depending on climate impact.
