MESA Fundraiser and Tack Swap

The Sullivan's out in Boulder hosted this event Saturday, April 2. Carla Sullivan said they have a MESA sales about every other year.
M.E.S.A. Therapeutic Horsemanship, Inc. is a non-profit program aimed at providing equine-related therapy activities to individuals with disabilities within Sublette County, Wyoming. The mission of M.E.S.A. is to promote self-esteem, self-confidence, physical independence, and social interaction through equine-related activities.
Paws, the Siamese cat was helping out by keeping the jeans and shirts on the flatbed trailer warm. Sage, the big yellow dog, greeted each guest as they got out of their car, and the ranch guard dog, Buddy, snoozed just inside the entrance.
Frank James bought a trap mounted on a board and said he was going to use it as a doorbell because it reminded him of a childhood event. "I was playing with friends down by the river up around Richland, Oregon. We came across a raccoon in a trap by the shore and we decided to set it free," he said. "I sent one of my buddies back to the house to get a rope. When he came back, I threw a rope on the raccoon and my buddy opened the trap. I thought the raccoon would run away and I'd be able to shake him loose of the rope, but nope, he ran right up the front of me and started taking bites. I started hollering and my friends grabbed sticks and started to whack on him to get him off me, which they eventually did and the raccoon ran into a pile of logs, and we left him alone."
