Extradition hearings held while search continues for missing weapons
by Sublette County Sheriff’s Office
May 16, 2016

(Pinedale, Wyo - May 16, 2016) An extradition hearing was held this afternoon in Circuit Court in Pinedale today for both Flint Wayne Harrison (51), and Dereck James "DJ" Harrison (22), following their arrests on warrants stemming from a kidnapping and assault of a woman and her four daughters in Centerville, UT, that occurred on Wednesday, May 11. Also seen in court was Maryann Delrymply Harrison (45), Dereck's mother and Flint's ex-wife, who was placed under arrest after a warrant was issued from Utah, when it was discovered that Maryann had broken the terms of her parole when she arrived in Wyoming seeking information about her son.

All parties remained quiet throughout the hearing, where Maryann waived the extradition process and will be returned to Utah within 10 business days. Both men requested attorneys, and Judge Curt Haws set each of their bonds at $750,000 cash only.

While the court proceedings took place, a search began for the weapons that were reportedly in Dereck's possession just prior to being taken into custody. Though unarmed at the time of his arrest, it had been reported that Dereck was in possession of two knives, a .22 caliber rifle, a .300 caliber rifle, and extra ammunition. Despite receiving reports that Dereck had made threats against law enforcement if confronted, he was taken into custody without incident.

Early this morning, investigators also learned of a missing Utah Transit Authority worker, Kay Porter Ricks, and the UTA maintenance vehicle that he was driving, who had been missing from the Salt Lake City area since Thursday evening, May 12, and the focus of the weapons search was readdressed to include the vehicle. Though neither the Centerville Police Department nor Utah Transit Authority have evidence to believe the two incidents are connected, the Sublette County Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for the vehicle as they search the forest area north of Pinedale where the Harrison's had been camping prior to their arrests.

Citizens are asked to be on the lookout for the missing UTA truck, and to notify law enforcement if sighted. Anyone who may come across the weapons are asked to avoid touching the items and to contact law enforcement immediately.
