Fireworks illegal in Sublette County year-round
by Sublette County Unified Fire
June 28, 2016
Residents of Sublette County are reminded that it is illegal to discharge fireworks in Sublette County throughout the year, including the Fourth of July holiday. Resolution 88-183T was adopted to prohibit the possession, storage, sale, and discharge of fireworks in Sublette County.
Fire Chief, Shad Cooper explained, "The resolution was adopted as a matter of public safety to protect citizens and their property. The fireworks ban has been in place for many years in Sublette County and it includes all private, state, and federal lands."
Residents are encouraged to attend the public fireworks displays hosted by Sublette County Unified Fire along with the towns of Pinedale and Big Piney/Marbleton on July Fourth. "We want to have our volunteer firefighters provide the public fireworks displays each year. This allows us to focus our efforts in the communities and minimize the potential for additional fire incidents in other areas of the county," explained Cooper. Pinedale’s display begins at 10:00 PM at the baseball fields and Big Piney/Marbleton’s display begins at 10:00 PM at the Marbleton Hill.
