This year, the board of Sublette County Commissioners is being increased from three to five commissioners. Jim Latta is not running again to retain his seat, leaving that seat open to be filled along with two new seats approved by voters to increase for this board.
This candidate forum was put on by the Sublette County Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee and sponsored by the Chamber, Wyoming Newspapers (Pinedale Roundup and Sublette Examiner), KPIN 101.1 FM Radio, and Pinedale Online. The forum was broadcast live on KPIN radio and live streamed on YouTube. Moderators were Stephen Crane and Lauretta Welch.
Another forum was held on August 4th in Pinedale for these County Commissioner candidates. Here are links to the YouTube video and an audio of that forum: August 4 forum YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dHpWOIO_js August 4 forum audio file (22MB: http://www.pinedaleonline.com/audio/SubCountyCommissionerForum1.mp3
The primary election will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016. The General Election will be on Tuesday, November 8th. One additional candidate is running as an Independent, Kay Malkowski, so her name will not be on the primary ballot and she did not participate in this candidate forum. Her name will be on the general election ballot.
The Chamber will host two additional candidate forums before the general election. Voters can register to vote in the County Clerk’s office at the Sublette County courthouse in Pinedale. Voters who won’t be at their polling location on Election Day can ask to vote early by absentee ballot at the Clerk’s office. Additional information about the candidates and their positions is available in articles in the Pinedale Roundup and Sublette Examiner newspapers. KPIN radio is also airing interviews with some of the candidates.
