A Rhumba of Cobra's Came to Town

I saw Steve Smith in the library and he asked excitedly, "Have you seen the 30 Cobra’s in front of The Cowboy?"
Spinning on my heels I grabbed my camera and jogged over to Pine Street. Sure enough, there was a whole herd of slithering snakes parked everywhere I looked.
Turns out these guys belong to a national Cobra club and go on a 1000 mile trip each year. This year they started out in Park City. They were coming back out from Teton Village where they spent last night. I mentioned to a crowd of the drivers that my first car in high school at age 16 was an Austin Healy 3000 which looked very similar to a Cobra. They all laughed and one guy said, "that was all of ours first car."
I didn’t look at all the license plates, but there were cars from Kansas, Montana, California, Virginia. I asked them if they had a sag wagon in case a car broke down along the way, but they said they carried tools and made repairs on the road.
The clouds were threatening as they put on their wooly hats and gloves, but no one put their top up. A heavy 427 engine roared to life, and then the whole field kicked over like the start at Indy. Impatiently they all inched forward coaxing those in the front to get going. With a smile on his face, Deputy Sean sat patiently in his patrol truck and watched as the nest of Cobra’s weaved around in the street, crawling around and over each other until they all got headed in the same direction and roared south toward Rock Springs.
