Friday, Nov. 18, 9:45AM: Unofficial report - Union Wireless cell service has been down since about 4AM Friday morning. The outage appears to be system-wide. A brief message was posted on their Facebook page around 9AM with an apology for the inconvenience and saying they are working diligently to return service. Some customers may be able to get service through roaming connections or make a phone call using Facebook Messenger or using FaceTime. Emergency calls to 911 should go through. Union Wireless experienced a network-wide disruption on October 31, 2016. According to Brian Woody, chief customer relations officer for Union Wireless, that outage appeared to be caused by a power surge emanating from the Cheyenne area causing a circuit failure. "Although there are redundancies built into the system to prevent such a disruption, a circuit failure still occurred. Once the circuit was reactivated, it took hours for all of the links to be checked and reconfigured. There are literally thousands of links that need to be verified in such an instance." Woody further stated "We apologize for the frustration and inconvenience this caused. We also know how important our service is to the region, not only for our customers, but for the hundreds of thousands of people with other carriers that roam on our network. We are determining what caused the outage as well as taking steps in preventing future similar issues."
