Isie McLoughlin of Pinedale High School was recently honored as the Teen Mentor of the Year at Wyoming First Lego League Robotics Championships in Casper Dec 3rd. McLoughlin was nominated by UW Extension 4-H & Youth Development Educator for her work mentoring the Cowboy Joes team consisting of local Pinedale Elementary and Pinedale Middle school students.
According to Sublette County 4-H Coordinator Robin Schamber: "Isie McLoughlin is in her third year of mentoring one of our young FLL Teams. As a high school senior, I’m sure Isie has a ton of other things she could be and should be doing, yet she arrives at the bi-weekly practices with a smile and ready to jump in and help when and where needed. Anyone who has worked with a team of young robot enthusiasts know that it can be somewhat like herding cats. Young kids, robots, moving parts, and moving bodies is a lot to keep track of. Thanks to Isie, we are able to capitalize on each practice as we work through team work, robot missions and the research project. Her help has been invaluable in getting it all done, but most of all she is kind, compassionate, loves to have fun and the kids adore her. Isie truly exemplifies what a young role model is, and we can only hope that half of the kids on the FLL team turn out to be as amazing as she is."
