Scam Alert by Sublette County Sheriff’s Office

PINEDALE, WYOMING Dec. 7, 2016 – The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office has started receiving calls about telephone scams in the community. The caller is stating that they work for Rocky Mountain Power and that the customer has an outstanding payment due on their power bill. The caller is stating that if the customer does not pay a specified amount immediately then their power will be shut off.
The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office has been in contact with the local Rocky Mountain Power Office. Rocky Mountain Power has confirmed that they would never ask their customers to make payment in this manner.
The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office wants to let the community know that this is a scam.
