Sometimes even the big boys get stuck

Wink sent in photos of a snow plow that got stuck at the top end of Skyline Drive trying to plow out the deep snow Wednesday afternoon (January 25). It is amazing what this heavy equipment can do to manhandle the challenge of the heavy snowfall. How do you get something this big unstuck and out? With another very big piece of equipment.
We thank the snow plow drivers who go out in the wee hours of the morning in awful weather conditions to keep the roads cleared, making plowed parking and turn around areas, and making the roads safer for the rest of us to get around. Skyline Drive is just east of Pinedale and accesses the popular White Pine ski area and Nordic ski recreation trails. It's very easy to catch an edge and get pulled over into ditch. Getting even a little bit off the packed plowed roads means sinking into very deep soft snow and needing help to get unstuck. Wildlife also is having trouble getting around in the deep snow and are using the plowed roads and trails to get around, so drivers need to watch for all kinds of oncoming traffic.
