The Teton County Commissioners declared a State of Emergency for Teton Village area of Jackson Hole and residents served by Lower Valley Energy impacted by the power outage from Tuesday night’s severe winter storm that brought high winds to western Wyoming. The storm downed 17 power poles in Jackson Hole cutting power to many residents and the ski area in Teton Village. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is temporarily closed due to lack of power. Power companies from around the area are helping Lower Valley Energy to try and get the power poles and lines back online as soon as possible in the challenging winter conditions. Lower Valley Energy is being assisted by equipment and crews from five neighboring utilities: High Plains Power, Idaho Falls Power, Fall River Rural Electric, Bonneville Power and Wasatch Energy. They are replacing the 11 steel transmission poles toppled in the storm with approximately 28 wooden poles. The Jackson Hole airport is reportedly mostly back to business as usual.
