US 191 CLOSED north of Daniel Junction through to Bondurant and north due to winter conditions. Hoback Canyon/US 191 CLOSED due to avalanche concerns. Teton Pass and Snake River Canyon remain CLOSED as crews work to clear debris from avalanches that crossed these roads several days ago. Heavy wet snow expected today in the Upper Green River Valley, 3-6 inches for valley locations. Roads are slick, slushy and rutted in some places, and travel difficult without 4-wheel drive, especially off main roads. We saw a garbage truck chaining up yesterday just to service around residential Pinedale, and a school bus got stuck on streets in Redstone and had to be towed out. South Pass open with high wind blow-over risk warnings. VERY DANGEROUS AVALANCHE CONDITIONS EXIST. TRAVEL IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT RECOMMENDED TODAY. Natural avalanches expected today - avoid all run zones. Three snowmobilers have been caught in slides in the past several days, one death near Alpine yesterday, jhavalanche.org. Be aware of danger of roof snow slides from buildings. Travelers are urged to closely monitor road and weather conditions and allow more time to reach your destination.
