Gannett Peak Lodge opens in Pinedale

Pinedale’s newest motel, Gannet Peak Lodge, is actually a new life for a historic icon for the Upper Green River Valley. In Pinedale, the buildings were last known as the Half Moon Motel, which operated for many years in town. Prior to that, the buildings that comprise the motel complex were built from the abandoned barracks that were left when the Civilian Conservation Corps camp in Farson closed in 1941 with the end of the federal New Deal program.
New owners Sofia and Forest Wakefield, who also own the Log Cabin Motel just one block over, bought the closed down motel to remodel it and make it into Pinedale’s newest budget motel. The 19 rooms have all been completely renovated. There are three room styles. All have new mattresses and bedding, and many updates, all while keeping the charm of the quaint buildings. All rooms have flat screen TVs, microwaves, small fridges, and free WiFi, There are a variety of room layouts, some with queen and some king beds, some with side rooms with an extra bed or a table for work or cards with friends. Pet are welcome at the motel, but all the rooms are non-smoking. Hikers going along the Continental Divide hiking trail and bikers using the Continental Divide mountain biking trail get 10% off the already low rates.
The community got to have a peek of the remodel work during the open house on Tuesday, June 20th. Members of the Pinedale Lions Club were at the grill for tasty refreshments.
Gannett Peak Lodge is open for business. They are located at 46 N. Sublette Avenue. They are close walking distance to downtown shops, restaurants and services. For more information or reservations call 307-231-5755 or go online to www.gannettpeaklodge.com
