PINEDALE, WYOMING – The Pinedale Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest will be completing some scheduled road maintenance on the Sweeney Creek Road near Half-moon Lake on June 14 - 16, 2017. Temporary traffic delays are expected on Skyline Drive and Sweeney Creek Roads.
The roadwork will occur between the Half-moon overlook and the Kelly Park turn-off. The closures will begin intermittently throughout the day on Wednesday, June 14 on Skyline Drive. Thursday and Friday, patching and finish work will occur on the Sweeny Creek road and intermittent closures are expected in that area as well. No delay should last longer than 45-minutes at a given time.
The project work on the Sweeney Creek road will result in improved public access to that portion of the Pinedale Ranger District. Presently, the road is little better than a two-track and barely wide enough for a 4x4 vehicle to pass through. The improvements will result in an enhanced roadway with safer shoulders and a more standard width. "We are hoping with enough advance notice visitors can plan accordingly," said Public Affairs Officer Mary Cernicek. "We know these delays can be an inconvenience and we appreciate the public's patience as we work to improve the road access for the future," she said.
