An option for sky watchers to view the August 21 solar eclipse is to be on the top of Fortification Mountain at White Pine Ski Area. The eclipse totality zone is a little over 66 miles wide and White Pine Ski Area is within the totality. White Pine plans to run Great Spirit lift to the top of Fortification Mountain so that viewers can experience the event.

The actual eclipse will only last around 2-1/2 minutes and start around 11:30AMish Monday morning, (depending on where you are in Wyoming).

The lift will run from 8am-2pm on a first come-first loaded basis - don't be late if you want to catch the actual eclipse. Cost for a ride is $30/adult and $15 for 5 to15 year olds.

Food and beverages will be available in the lodge. They will also have eclipse glasses for sale (never look at the sun with unprotected eyes as damage to your vision can occur).
