by Pinedale Fine Arts Council
October 3, 2017
The Pinedale Fine Arts Council (PFAC) is proud to present The Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Company on Friday, October 13 at 7 p.m. in the Pinedale Auditorium. This highly anticipated performance kicks off PFAC’s 41st season ticket series.
In their return to Pinedale, The Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Company (based in Denver) will present two exciting new works "MiclanRx" and "Bamboula"
MictlanRx (Mictlan defined as a traditional place of the dead) showcases the life and struggles of indigenous and Afro-Mexican people. MictlanRx’s music combines sounds and rhythms extracted from Afro-Mexican traditional music, bridging the vast cultures of Mexico’s Pacific and Atlantic coastal regions. The work provokes an awakening to another culture through non-conventional aesthetics, sounds and movements.
Bamboula emerges from choreographer Millicent Johnnie’s research into the connections between the Zulu minstrel parades of New Orleans and the Minstrel Carnival in Cape Town, South Africa.
Cleo Parker Robinson Dance is an international, cross-cultural, dance-arts and educational institution rooted in African American traditions.
Tickets for Cleo Parker Robinson Dance are available online at pinedalefinearts.com and are also on sale at Pine Coffee Supply, The Cowboy Shop, Office Outlets, The Big Piney Library and at the door the night of the performance. Ticket prices are $20 adults / $7 students / $2 extra at the door.
