January 16, 2018
The Pinedale Fine Arts Council (PFAC) is proud to present New York’s The Queen’s Cartoonists performing live on Wednesday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sheppard Auditorium.
The Queen’s Cartoonists offer a tour-de-force of the Swing Era’s zaniest and most creative music, much of which was written for or adapted for classic cartoons. The band’s repertoire includes the wacky pieces of Raymond Scott, John Kirby’s swing arrangements of classical compositions, and both original and rejigged music used by Carl Stalling for Warner Brothers classic Looney Tunes & Merry Melodies.
The music runs the gamut from lightning fast swing arrangements to sync’d video projections, vocal numbers, and comedy. Be prepared for music from classic Warner Brothers cartoons, early Disney films, cult cartoon classics, and modern animation. Featured composers include Raymond Scott, Carl Stalling, Danny Elfman, Alf Clausen, John Williams, and countless adaptations of classical favorites!
Tying this diverse and challenging repertoire together are stories and anecdotes involving the cartoons and their composers. The band is on a musical mission of equal parts music preservation, education, and performance. The Queen’s Cartoonists tap into the rich tradition of cartoon music to bring a fun, cross-generational concert experience to any and all who will listen!
Joining The Queen’s Cartoonist’s on stage Wednesday night will be members of the Pinedale and Big Piney High School Bands who will perform a Star Wars medley as a full group!
Tickets for The Queen’s Cartoonists are available online at pinedalefinearts.com and at Pine Coffee Supply, The Cowboy Shop, Office Outlets, The Big Piney Library and at the door the night of the performance. Ticket prices are $20 adults / $7 students / $2 extra at the door.
