Monument Ridge Project public meeting April 19

The Sublette County Collaborative will be holding a public meeting for the Monument Ridge Project at the Bondurant Fire Station on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 6-8PM.
The Monument Ridge Project emerged from the Sublette County Collaborative, and will address fire and fuels, wildlife habitat restoration, water quality and quantity, and access issues for area recreation on the Big Piney Ranger District.
Summary/Key Points:
• One of the top 10 priorities for 2018 for the Bridger-Teton National Forest, the Inter-Disciplinary (ID) Team met on November 15th, 2017.
• The project will be completed under a Categorical Exclusion (CE) of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
• The USDA will contribute a total of $711,500 to this project in 2018 through the Joint Chief’s Landscape Restoration Partnership between the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and the National Resource Conservation Service (NRCS). It aligns with the following Joint Chief’s Partnership goals: Wildland Urban Interface/fuels reduction/defensible space; improving water quality and quantity within two watersheds; Aspen restoration; as well as habitat improvements benefitting mule deer, pronghorn, and greater sage-grouse.
• The project area includes U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Bureau of Land Management, State of Wyoming, and private lands in Sublette County, Wyoming. Partners to the USFS in the Sublette County Collaborative include: US Bureau of Land Management, Pinedale Field Office; Wyoming Game and Fish; Divisions of State Forestry; Sublette County Agencies of Sublette Fire, Sublette Weed and Pest, Sublette Conservation District, and County Commissioners; as well as members of local recreation interests including Backcountry Horsemen and the motorized recreation community.
