September 21, 2018, 5:17PM – Bridger-Teton National Forest fire managers and Unit Administrators for Sublette County Unified Fire, Bureau of Land Management and Wyoming State Forestry Division have ordered a national Type 1 incident management team Friday, September 21, to manage the Roosevelt Fire. The incident’s complexity is increasing as structures have been damaged and evacuation orders are expanding. Fire managers also recognize the need for the additional planning and operations capacity that a Type 1 team can provide.

Members of Great Basin Team 2—led by Incident Commander Tony DeMasters—will receive a briefing at the Bondurant Fire Hall on Saturday, September 22. On Sunday, September 23 the team will "shadow" Great Basin Team 6, the team currently managing the fire. Transfer of command will take place Monday, September 23 at 6 AM.

The Roosevelt Fire was detected on Saturday, September 15. A local Type 3 incident management team managed the fire until Great Basin Team 6 took command of the fire on Wednesday, September 19.
