Holiday Happenings with the Museum of the Mountain Man
November 18, 2018
With another successful summer season in the books, the Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale is looking forward to some local Christmas festivities. The gift shop is brimming with stocking stuffers, "special somethings" and great reads for the whole family, and they’d love to help you fill your shopping list.
You are invited to join them for one of the following special holiday season events: • Small Business Saturday on November 24, Museum open from 9am – 4pm (10% discount) • 25th Annual Wreath & Chocolate Auction, Pinedale Library, 6 – 9pm • Special Shopping Hours at the Museum, Wednesday, December 12, 3-7pm (10% discount) • Procrastinator’s Last Chance, Museum open Wednesday, December 19, 3-7pm (10% discount) • Online shopping is also available at Museum Online Trading Post (free shipping during the holiday season)
Each year individuals, organizations and businesses create unique wreaths, swags and chocolate delights and donate them to the Museum for the annual Wreath & Chocolate Auction. This holiday event, held annually on the first Friday evening of December, is the main fundraiser for the Sublette County Historical Society and the Museum of the Mountain Man. The funds raised help support programs and projects for the following year. The event includes a live auction for wreaths and a silent auction featuring chocolate and gift baskets. Jay Fear, prior SCHS Board President, serves as the Auctioneer. The food is generously sponsored by First Bank. Started in 1993, this annual event has become a highlight of the holiday season in Sublette County.
The Museum of the Mountain Man welcomed more than 10,000 visitors from all 50 states and 34 countries this past summer. It is the only museum in the world focused on the Rendezvous era of the Rocky Mountain Fur Trade. It is considered one of the top museums in Wyoming.
Each May the Museum partners with the American Mountain Men to offer a Living History Days experience for over 800 students from around the region. Another 3,000+ people attend free educational programs during the annual Green River Rendezvous Days for four days in mid-July.
The Museum will be open for special days during this holiday season for late holiday shopping and for visits of the Museum. For more info call 307-367-4101 or go online to www.mmmuseum.com.
