Rough-legged Hawk
A Rough-legged Hawk takes off from a fence post. These raptors breed in the far north and will migrate into Sublette County for the winter while most of our Red-tails and Swainson's Hawks will migrate farther south. These birds are often seen hunting rodents from fence posts and telephone poles. We typically count a number of these raptors on the annual Christmas Bird Count which will be December 30, 2018. Come join us! Photo by Betty Boehm.

Christmas Bird Count Dec. 30
December 20, 2018
Are you looking for a fun event or trying to entertain family over the holidays?
The 119th Annual Audubon Society Christmas Bird Count is upon us! This year it will take place on Sunday, December 30, 2018. Everyone is welcome: beginning to professional birders. The "Count" is a 24 hour period in which we count and try to identify every bird seen within a 7.5 mile radius of the Pinedale Library. On our best year we counted 2539 birds consisting of 46 different species.
If you would like a route, join a group, sit inside and watch your feeder, and need more information, please contact Betty Boehm at 307-367-7018 or send an email to wildcolorpobox@hotmail.com.
The day will end with a chili pot luck dinner at the Pinedale Library Boardroom starting at 5:30 PM.
