"Full 911 service has been restored to the Communications Center as of this morning," Lowell said. "911 calls should go through just as before."

Sweetwater Combined Communications Center issues statement on CenturyLink outage Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office media release
(Sweetwater County, Wyo. - December 28, 2018) In response to a number of technical questions and concerns received regarding CenturyLink’s nationwide service issues on Thursday and their effect on the Sweetwater Combined Communications Center, the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement from the Center’s I.T. Department:
"When CenturyLink's network went offline, it caused issues with local phone carriers being able to transmit location data to our ALI provider, West Public Safety Services. While our ALI circuits operated normally, our 911 system was unable to query location data from West.
"We also noticed that some phone carriers were not able to connect 911 calls to our center through CenturyLink's selective router in Cheyenne. Our 911 CAMA trunks, as well as our admin phone lines operated normally.
"Since CenturyLink is the sole 911 provider in Sweetwater County, as well as most Wyoming Counties, we must rely on their network and redundancies to be able to deliver 911 calls to our dispatch center.
"The Combined Communications Center's network has multiple backup systems and redundancies on devices and networks we control. The center has two redundant, high-speed Internet connections. Neither are provided by CenturyLink. We also have two data centers, both with call taking capabilities, and interconnected with redundant fiber and microwave connectivity.
"We can assure the public that our 911 and dispatch systems are as redundant and hardened as we can make them at this time, and we continue to strive to make it better every day. We are going to learn from CenturyLink's outage, and we are going to make every effort that we can to help improve 911 services to our communities."
Sweetwater County Sheriff Mike Lowell once again emphasized that, as of Friday morning, 911 service has been restored to the Communications Center and is functioning just as it did before the CenturyLink outage.
